Every time you drop an instrument, a composer writes a ridiculous piece of music.

Things I have learned about being drum major:

  • 1. If you want people to listen to you, you must get them to respect you first.
  • 2. Yelling doesn't solve anything, it only makes people less apt to do what you want them to.
  • 3. Be assertive when you need to. If you're never assertive, nobody will ever take you seriously.
  • 4. It's okay to tell people that they need to do something differently as long as you help them fix it.
  • 5. Be kind to everyone. Care about everyone in the band's well-being. Your kindness could save someone's life or spark someone's passion.
  • 6. Band really is a place for everyone.
  • 7. Show your passion, it will inspire others.
